Please remember to bring:

You will be walking over uneven rocks, sand, and steep inclines.

  • 1 Pair of Broken-In Hiking Shoes or Sturdy Sneakers: Do not bring brand-new shoes. Petra involves miles of walking, and Wadi Rum is full of sand and rocks.
  • 1 Pair of Water Shoes/Sandals: Essential for the Dead Sea (the salt crust on the seabed can be incredibly sharp) or for walking around your desert camp.
  • For Everyday Exploration & Petra:
  • Lightweight, loose-fitting pants or maxi skirts/dresses.
  • T-shirts or linen shirts that cover your shoulders. (Avoid tank tops and short shorts).
  • For Wadi Rum (Desert Nights):
  • Warm layers: The desert drops in temperature drastically at night. Bring a fleece jacket, a warm sweater, or a windbreaker.
  • For the Dead Sea & Hotel Pools:
  • Swimsuit: Bring an older or darker-colored swimsuit. The mineral-rich mud and high salt content of the Dead Sea can easily stain or discolor light fabrics.
  • Wide-brimmed hat or baseball cap.
  • High SPF sunscreen and lip balm with SPF.
  • Sunglasses (polarized are best to combat the glare of the desert sand).
  • A lightweight scarf (Pashmina or Shemagh): Incredibly versatile. It protects your neck from the sun, covers your shoulders if visiting a holy site, and shields your face during a windy Jeep safari in Wadi Rum.
