Your guide will meet you at your hotel, and then you will start your journey to Gebel el-Silsila (Silsila) with Happy Egypt.
Gebel el-Silsila is situated on both sides of the Nile River, between Kom Ombo and Edfu. This area was significant for the ancient Egyptians.
It served as a crucial sandstone quarry, supplying materials for grand structures like the colonnade of Amenhotep III at Luxor Temple located on the east bank of Nile River in the city called luxor , it was known in the egyption language as Luxor Temple , the Karnak Temple of Amenhotep IV, the Ramesseum, Medinet Habu, and many other monuments. While the east bank quarry is not open to visitors, the steep cliffs on the west bank are filled with graffiti, shrines, temples, tombs, and stelae, including 33 rock chapels. You will enjoy exploring Aswan's attractions and learning about them.
The main quarry on the west bank features mason’s marks, artisan drawings, and other signs of ancient activity. After this, you will head to Kom Ombo. Known as the Hill of Gold, Kom Ombo is famous for its temple and sugar factory. The temple is unique because it is dedicated to two gods: the Falcon-headed Haroeris (Horus the Elder) on the northern side and the Crocodile-headed Sobek on the southern side, resulting in two separate sanctuaries.
The temple was known as a Sanatorium, with seven medical clinics located behind it. You can see medical and surgical tools inscribed on the temple walls. To the left of the temple, you can view the A nilometer was a structure for measuring the Nile River's clarity and water level during the annual flood season. Nilometer , which measures the Nile flood. Since the temple is dedicated to Sobek, many crocodiles were found on the site, some of which are now in the Crocodile Museum at the base of the temple.
Visit Kom Ombo The temple :
The temple and the associated settlement site are located 40 K.m north of Aswan, the temple was dedicated to the deities Sobek and Horus and date mainly to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods (332 B.b -395 A.c)
