Hawara
The village of Hawara is situated 9 kilometers to the South East of El Fayoum, a stunning destination in Egypt. It is about 100 kilometers southeast of Cairo and has been known since ancient times as Hat Wa'art, meaning "the footsteps." Later on, it was named Laprincess, possibly derived from the Temple of Amenmehat III in Hawara, known as "Laprent" or "the temple located at the outlet of the lake." In Hawara, archaeologists discovered the remarkable "Portraits of the Fayoum," which consist of 146 painted portraits of various individuals dating back to the 1st to the 3rd centuries A.D.
