Daraw is a beautiful town situated south of Kom Ombo, in the governorate of Aswan. The town is famous for its camel market, where more than 2,000 camels, brought from Sudan in caravans that cross the desert in a 40 day road trip, are sold and bought. Generally on Sundays, this market becomes very lively. It comprises of a number of small villages inhabited by famous nomad tribe such as El Gaafera, El Abayda, and El Ansar. Every week, Egypt receives thousands of camels coming from Sudan after a long journey between the two countries. The camel trade between Egypt and Sudan remains its nature, especially its journey between the two countries, starting from Sudanese territory until it enters Egyptian territory, all the way to the famous camel market in the city of Daraw, which does not only represent a market. It is a camel exchange, but it is a tourist attraction visited by tourists coming from different countries of the world.

Camel trade takes place there on Saturdays and Sundays of every week, from about 6 a.m. until 3 p.m., and merchants come to it from all governorates of Upper Egypt. The camel market in the city of Daraw was chosen because this location was considered the first center for receiving camels by land, and they come.
